Picks from the Pouch: Holiday Gift Guide for Baby, Girls, Boys, and More

There's something fun about starting the gift list. The names go down one by one, the ideas start rolling in, and you can already picture the wrapping paper flying.

We've been helping St. Louis families shop for the little people in their lives for nearly 30 years, and we've learned that the best gifts aren't always the biggest. They're the ones that feel picked just for that kid. New toys and books sit right alongside gently used, fully loved clothing and gear in our shop, and every piece is one-of-a-kind. Whatever you choose, nobody else will be unwrapping the same thing.

Here's how we'd shop it.

For Baby

The littlest ones on your list are easy to shop for and so fun to dress. Soft footed pajamas, sweet rompers, and a first holiday outfit are the kind of gifts that end up in every photo. Cozy layers and tiny knit hats keep winter outings snug, and a few everyday basics in the next size up are always a welcome surprise for parents.

If you want to go bigger, baby gear makes a gift the whole family appreciates. A play gym for tummy time or a carrier for walks around the neighborhood gets used every single day.

For Girls

From toddler sizes all the way up to 12, this is where the fun outfits live. A party dress for the family get-together, a sparkly top, or a pair of shoes she'll want to wear everywhere all make a gift that feels special the moment it's unwrapped.

For everyday wear, think cozy and cute. Soft leggings, warm sweaters, and a statement jacket are the pieces she'll reach for all season, and older girls love the chance to pick up a brand they've had their eye on.

For Boys

Sharp and comfy is the sweet spot here. A button-down or a little sweater vest works for holiday photos, while graphic tees, warm hoodies, and joggers are what he'll actually want to live in.

Shoes and outerwear make great standalone gifts too. A cool pair of sneakers or a warm winter coat feels like a big-kid gift at any age, and finding it secondhand means he gets something with a little history that's totally his own.

Toys and Books

This is where we'd start for almost anyone on the list. For babies and toddlers, think soft books, stacking toys, shape sorters, and anything that rattles or rolls. Preschoolers are all about pretend play, so play kitchens, dress-up, art supplies, and simple building sets get plenty of love.

Older kids are ready for a challenge. Puzzles with more pieces, board games, craft kits, and chapter books give them something to dig into on a cozy afternoon. And if they've found a favorite series, the next book in line is an easy yes.

A Few Gifting Tips From Our Team

Pair things up. A book with a matching toy, or a toy with an outfit, turns a single gift into a little themed bundle that feels extra thoughtful.

Shop by interest, not just size. If you know they love dinosaurs, art, or anything with wheels, start there and work outward.

Give a gift with a story. Gently used clothing and gear carry a little history, and knowing a piece was loved before is part of its charm.
